LAKEVILLE, IN (January 5, 2010) -- It is with mixed emotions that Hoosier
Racing Tire announces today that Urie "Bud" Watson, owner of Hoosier
Tire Mid-Atlantic, has decided to embark on the next phase of his life and
retire from his daily pursuits in the racing industry.
"I would just like to thank everyone at Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic,
Hoosier Racing Tire and all our loyal and dedicated customers who have
supported me and my family for so many years. Without their help and hard work,
this day would not be possible for me and Carol," stated Bud.
Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic has been purchased by Chris Archer, current owner
of Hoosier Tire Great Plains. Day-to-day operations will remain unaffected by
the change in ownership.
"Bud and his group of employees here at Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic have
built a solid, successful business from the ground up," commented Chris.
"I'm not about to re-invent the wheel with this business, but I see a huge
potential benefit for our customers with the addition of the Smiley's Racing
assortment of products as well as our current offering of Hoosier Racing
Tires."
General Manager Bob Wirts had equally mixed emotions about the change.
"I'm very grateful for the years of leadership Bud provided all of us. He
has definitely earned the right to pursue other interests and we wish him well.
While I'm sad to see Bud go, I'm excited to be working with Chris on the future
of Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. I see many great things on the horizon for our
company and many new opportunities for our customers."
All of us at Hoosier Racing Tire are grateful to Bud for his many years
of hard work and dedication to grow the Hoosier brand. While it is tough to see
one of our most respected and successful distributors hang up his purple
clipboard, we wish him all the best as he pursues the perfect round of golf in
sunny Florida where Bud will spend much of his retirement with his wife Carol.
